The Blue Benn Diner is not only a New England landmark but bigger than that it is a piece of living history. The diner was manufactured in the 1940s. This is one of the few dining cars left that does not have giant growths built on to. With the reasonable exception of the entranceway, everything else is contained within the original car — the dining area and counter, the bathroom and even the kitchen..

WHAT DO VEGANS ORDER?

The Blue Benn is not your traditional diner filled with cheap greasy tasteless food. We’re in gourmet territory. Here you can order gluten-free bread, Vermont maple syrup, Green Mountain coffee, tofu scramble, falafels, guacamole, lentil-nut burger spiced with curry, sweet potato fries and other vegan yummies. There are so many options that I’ve never ordered from the specials boards which have 50 new items daily. The Blue Benn is not your traditional diner filled with cheap greasy tasteless food. History

Blue Benn has been here forever and is a local favorite as well as heat historical step back in time. Juke box coin machines at each diner table just like in the 40's and 50's. Cash only and prices are very reasonable. Good for all meals but a favorite for breakfast. No reservations and waiting is on the honor system if you want a table but sit at the counter almost anytime without waiting."

Reviews

"came here for breakfast. decent pancakes and turkey sausage with real maple syrup, of course. 4 stars vs 3 because the prefab diner structure is a blast from the past and adds to an otherwise average but solid diner breakfast"

"Came in from North Carolina to deliver an armored vehicle. Looking for somewhere to eat breakfast. Came across this shack and decided to give it a shot because I was starving. Well to my surprise this was a small place and it was packed. People were waiting to eat here. I asked one of the locals on what the order of seating was and she said belly up to the bar or wait on a booth your call. I said thank you and belly up I did. OK eat here and you won't be disappointed sums it up. The reviews are accurate and true. This place has excellent food. Small but good. Enjoy and get there early.

"I was driving through Bennington and looking for a breakfast place with some cars or people around it to show it was popular. This one had a parking lot full and people waiting inside the door for a table so I knew this must be the place. Regulars waiting inside said no doubt ... it's fabulous and there's nothing they don't have here. They were right! Delicious food, friendly, great service and very good prices. Don't miss it!"
